Confessions of a Virtual Assistant: A Tell-All About Working from Home as a Virtual Assistant

As a virtual assistant, there is a lot that goes unsaid...A lot that I've never told anyone. Things that only exist in my mind. Until today.......

Confession 1: I stopped telling people I was a virtual assistant about 6 months in.

After the 8th time attempting to explain what a virtual assistant does and watching peoples eyes glaze over, I just started telling people I was a freelancer.

Confession 2: I wish my clients understood just how much they mean to me.

Not only have I met some of my best friends through starting this business, but I literally would be nowhere without my clients. They make my days brighter in every way.

Confession 3: I think about quitting all the time.

I am hard wired to fold when things get hard, because I don't believe in myself. I fight against that instinct every day because I know that I am capable and deserving.

Confession 4: I don't "do it all". Not even close.

My friends - there is no such thing as "doing it all". There is only doing your best.

Confession 5: I've never fired a client - even though I really really should have.

Like really really really should have. You know in a relationship when you're both playing chicken but neither one wants to be the one to pull the trigger and say it's over? It was like that but on steroids.

Confession 6: Most days I feel like I'm failing.

There is always a little voice inside my head that is telling me I'm not good enough. To that I say: SILENCIO BRUNO.

Confession 7: There is no "secret".

There is only showing up in tiny imperfect ways consistently.
